Now that 4th Wall has been servicing the community for more than a year, we’re getting many repeat clients. It is a wonderful thing! At one of our often visited places, the Down Syndrome Guild, we’ve done five 6-week sessions with them. That is enough to see amazing growth.
Welcoming the students (some returning, some new) to the first class last Tuesday I was struck with how much they have grown. One young lady would not speak above a whisper her first time on stage. Tuesday she practically shouted, “Hi, Miss Katie!” Another student would rather sit by herself than socialize with her peers when we first met. Imagine my surprise when I actually had to ask her to be quiet and listen! Such growth warms my heart. It is yet more evidence that the art of theatre helps the actors (and their teachers) as much as the audience.
