We have an excellent 4th Wall collaboration in place with Michigan State University.  After we practiced a dance for the grand finale, one of our MSU theatre majors approached me, “That band we’re dancing to?  I know them.  I could send along a video of our 4th Wall class dancing to their song.”

Thrilled does not start to describe my students’ reaction at showing a favorite band their dance moves.  We did three takes to get it just right.  It was a great lesson in practicing, community, and how artists lean on and appreciate one another.  As a teacher I was happy for my students to have this experience in virtual sharing.

But wait, there’s more…

Unplanned by us the band recorded a video back!  They said:

“What’s up guys!  [Names] here from [band] and we just wanted to say:  4th Wall you sound absolutely amazing, you all are great.”

As you may have guessed, I cannot disclose which billboard topping band it is.  But you know what?  I don’t know if it matters:  my students were ecstatic!  To reach out and be heard is a wonderful human experience.  So thank you, chart-topping band, for taking 30 seconds to make 17 lives that much more happy.  How cool.
